Panchtatva: The Essence of Life

We all must be aware of Panchtatva. The word ‘Panchatatva’ originates from Sanskrit, where “Panch” stands for Five and “Tatva” indicates Elements. Following the universal law of life, everything on this planet is composed of five basic elements. These are Akash (Sky or Space), Vayu (Air), Jal (Water), Agni (Fire), and Prithvi (Earth). To sensitize students about 5 elements of existence, the following were the activities conducted: Dance performance, Powerpoint presentation, Graffiti, Pack it up & Resource consumption graph. The complete focus was on their holistic development and also making them involved in international practices. Most effectively, globalites appreciated the significance of rich resources available, their importance & the need to conserve them. Overall, it was an enlightening activity. Lastly, understanding the fundamental attributes of these elements helps us in assessing our own latent power, inherent natural traits, character building & guided us towards a better awareness of our environment

Students were explained about air, water, earth, fire, and space as the five elements that sustain life on this planet. A dance performance on five elements was showcased in the school assembly followed by meditation, with the help of Dance and Yoga Teacher, Powerpoint presentations on the topic “HANDS ON 4R’s” and “REUSE OR RECYCLE Which comes first ?” were prepared by students of grade X and were presented in front of the students of grade VIII and IX , with the help of Science, Social Science, and ICT Teachers. Questionnaires were filled in by students for “Reuse Choices “. The presentations shown by both the schools were shared with each other over email. The questionnaires were done by the partner school too. Graffiti Inter-house competition were conducted on the importance of these elements. All the houses were given separate elements with inputs from English, Science, and Social Science Teacher. The same activity was conducted by the partner school shared over email. Research were done by the students about the effective measures adopted by various countries on the perspectives of these global issues and discussed through video conferencing with partner school. Students calculated the resources consumed by the mentioned countries and present it using bar graph with the guidance of ICT,Science and Mathematics Teacher.They shared the bar graphs with the partner school and discuss the consumption and
prevention of resources on skype.
